Although there is no written law that says you can’t drive with headphones, or Airpods for that matter, if the bit of tech is deemed to be a distraction, drivers could face a fine for driving with headphones, according to IDA. As the nights draw in, the International Drivers Association (IDA) is sounding the alarm about a lesser-known rule that could catch many drivers off guard. Rule 248 of the UK Highway Code mandates that vehicles parked on roads with a speed limit exceeding 30mph at night time must have their sidelights on.
